Random…

Okay, the Sun, it sucks… well, not really, the Sun is awesome, but, with only a white light filter, right now it is pretty boring (to look at). Now, if anyone has a H-Alpha filtered telescope… and lives in the Athens, GA, or Thomaston, GA area… and actually reads this blog (doubtful), then I would like… love… begging… to be able to come by and snap some pictures. Anyway, it is supposed to be clear (partly cloudy and cold) here in Athens tonight, almost a full moon, etc, so I am going to make some photographic attempts. If there are any requests, pass them on, just keep in mind its heavily light polluted, I use a Dobsonian (not great for astrophotography), and I don’t have the adapter for my SLR yet. But, feel free to request (it means actual comments on my page!)

  1. Sol is pretty quiet at the moment but, will be getting more active in the coming months. So your white filter will be getting a workout soon!.I would suggest keeping a eye on SOHO’s website for future activity!.I pretty much check it out everyday.Heh,sorry no request for moon shots.I myself have 3 scopes but,it is just to darn cold (10 degrees as I type this)to give them and myself some fresh air!.

  2. I have a 10″ Meade LXD75 that is a f/4.It is great for deep space images.I also have a 90mm Meade Digital series. It is I believe a f/11 which is good for planetary imaging. My 3rd scope is a celestron 4.5″ reflector. It too is good for planetary imaging being also a f/11 but,has no tracking capabilities.Yeah,SOHO is awesome site and the MDI images are beautiful.Recently,SOHO detected a reverse in polarity in a sunspot at a rather high latitude which was a indicator that the sun was at the begining stages of a new solar cycle.
